Chesil Beach has taken a huge battering in the storms we’ve had this week.  It’s always fairly rough down at West Bay and Burton Bradstock, but I’ve never seen it like this….

So … the first trip to the hut was with the husband and was a lazy loungy time with lots of reading, snoozing and scrabble playing.  The second trip was made last week and was with the niephlings.  It involved swimming, rock pooling, paddling, playing and running around chasing things.  It was heaps and heaps of fun and sooooooooooo hot!  It was hats and parasols all round…

The weather has been so glorious and the days have been so long and lazy this week that I’ve just got millions of photos to share with you.  I’m going to divide them into categories.  First up – the Flowers… (and a little bit of fungus)

It was only yesterday that I was longing for a crispy misty autumn morning, and then today, here it is!!  I woke up too early by mistake and left myself time on the way to work to take some photos.  It was so lovely being up on the hill watching the sun rise with all the other little cars whizzing along in a hurry.  I drive along the most stunning road to get to work.  It runs parallel to Chesil Beach, with Portland Bill and the Fleet at one end, Golden Cap and the Jurassic Coast at the other, and St Catherine’s Chapel in the middle.  The view was so amazing I took too many photos and then couldn’t decide which to share with you.  I got it down to eighteen though….

Well, I hope it’s not really the end of the summer, just the end of the summer holidays.  Although sitting here looking out the window, the waves are crashing over the pier and people have anoraks and wellies on!  It’s been a lovely six weeks full of family, food, music, swimming, playing, laughing, sewing, crocheting, walking, reading, exploring, drawing, snorkelling and generally having fun.  Here’s a round up of the last few days….

I can’t believe the colours of the rocks and seaweed on Portland.  The air is so clear, the water is so clear, it’s like an optical illusion…
